Last Saturday I visited the beautiful wineries in the gorgeous suburbs of St Catherines and Vineland, ON. We started our trip by first stopping at the Upper Deck Grill in St Catherines to fill ourselves up before we set off to visit three delicious wineries in the surroundings.
13th Street Wineries
Our first winery-stop was 13th Street Wineries. The architecture of the place was chic with a touch of nature to mimic its surrounding. We tasted several wines during our stay there; 4 to be exact. My favourite amongst them was Maritage and Cabernet Merlot. I am not a fan of dessert wine or the sweet kind so I passed those options. However, my friend and mom prefer that kind so they were all over those! We ended up buying each our favourites from the winery and also indulged our sweet tooth at their bakery.
Megalomaniac Wineries & Estate
Second stop: the Megalomanic Wineries! This was a vast estate with tons and tons of open land around it. Our host showed us around, while explaining the art of creating the perfect wine. We tasted several wines there and I ended up getting a dessert wine for my friend. Our time there was pretty nice and had the weather been a bit on our side, we would have sipped on the delicious wine on the rooftop balcony – sighs. Maybe next time!
Vineland Wineries & Estate
Final stop was at the Vineland Wineries. With its adorable architecture that were oozing out their personalities, I was immediately in love. This winery was the one where I found the wine. It was a Cabernet Merlot but so dry and yet it didn’t leave its after taste in your mouth. Smooth and strong at the same time, I was immediately in love – hehe.

All in all, it was a very fun-filled and somewhat tiring Saturday that we spent at the wineries. Looking at my winery collection my heart beats with rejoice! Ever since, I have come back from Spain my love for wine keeps growing and growing. If my 2012-self could see me now, she’d be baffled considering I used hate any kind of wine, let alone the full-body, extremely dry kind that I currently love.
It makes me really happy seeing how much fun local adventures have made me recently. Next weekend, I will be going to Tobermory, ON for the long weekend so stayed tuned for that 🙂

What a lovely way to spend a day off! I love the way how your text reflects the genuine warmth and happiness you must have felt during the course of your trip. Kind of shows how beautiful simple pleasures of life can be. I love the pictures; altho I would have loved to see some of the scenery, architecture and environment described in greater detail especially with respects to how it made YOU feel. I feel as if it would have added real depth so an otherwise cheerful happy post. Posts like these make me happy, please keep writing more xxxx
Thank you so much for an insightful feedback! I realize that you’re absolutely right, I should start adding more depth and insight to the copy of my posts and not rely too heavily on the photographs. This way, I will be truly journaling my experiences and not just write for the sake of blogging. I will keep that in mind when composing my upcoming blog post about my recent trip to Tobermory 🙂 Thank you so much for writing this, it really helps me deliver better 🙂
I’ve never been a wine person, but you make me want to get adventurous. Great pictures 🙂
